Description: Rare museum quality Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood polished on both sides with a custion made spinning steel stand to allow for variable display of the polished sides or the bark rind.This fossil's scientific name is araucarioxylon arizonicum, an extinct conifer tree. This fossil is approximately 225 million years old from the late Triassic period. During the Triassic, dinosaurs first appeared and were about as big as a person. Triassic crocodiles on the other hand could be 60 ft long. The dinosaur and crocodile bones are found among the petrified wood stumps in Arizona. This piece comes from the Chinle geologic formation.
